The Chief of Army Staff, Major General Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s commitment to eradicating terrorism in the country, declaring that insurgents will find no refuge until they are completely neutralized.
Speaking during his visit to the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Oluyede emphasized that the military is intensifying its strategies to eliminate more terrorists, particularly in the northeast.
Upon arrival, he inspected the quarter guard before addressing the brigade’s personnel. He highlighted the Army’s recent successes in combating banditry, noting that a significant number of criminals had been eliminated and further operations were underway to build on these achievements.
“We are making concerted efforts to rid Nigeria of terrorists. Security is a top priority, and all hands are on deck to ensure lasting peace,” Oluyede stated.
He added, “Many bandits have been neutralized, and their activities have been drastically reduced, especially in the northern region, because we took the fight to them. We are adopting new strategies to achieve greater success and enhance national security.”
The Army Chief also stressed that improving soldiers’ welfare remains a key focus to boost their effectiveness in safeguarding the nation. He assured that ongoing measures were in place to enhance their well-being and operational capacity.
“My visit is primarily to assess the welfare of my soldiers and encourage them to remain dedicated to their duties. Our collective efforts will make Nigeria safer and more secure,” he added.
Oluyede was accompanied by senior military officials from the force headquarters.
