Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and holding follow-up engagements in Germany.

Lens News reports that Shettima was received at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by senior government officials on Wednesday.

At the UNGA, the Vice President delivered Nigeria’s national statement, pushing for United Nations reforms, greater control for Africa over its natural resources, and a permanent African seat on the UN Security Council. He also met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who praised Nigeria’s role in global peace and security.

In Germany, Shettima held meetings on investment, economic cooperation, and development partnerships, and assured Nigerians in the diaspora of the administration’s commitment to their inclusion in national programmes.

He is expected to immediately resume domestic duties following his diplomatic mission.
