In a message commemorating World Teachers’ Day 2025, Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has called for urgent action to address the global shortage of teachers. Celebrated on October 5, the day highlights the theme “Focusing on the Global Teacher Shortage,” underscoring the pressing need for more educators worldwide.

Senator Tinubu described teaching as “one of society’s noblest professions” and emphasized the necessity to empower educators by investing in their professional growth. She noted that increasing the number of teachers is essential to meet the educational demands of growing populations and to ensure quality education for all.

As a lifelong educator, Senator Tinubu expressed deep respect for the teaching profession and paid tribute to teachers for their dedication and resilience. She referred to them as “true heroes” who play a pivotal role in shaping minds, nurturing dreams, and guiding generations.
