Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have rescued five pregnant girls from a suspected baby factory in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area of the state.
The police stormed the building after receiving credible intelligence about suspicious activities linked to child trafficking and illegal adoption.
Confirming the operation, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, said the victims, aged between 15 and 25, were found in different stages of pregnancy.
According to her, investigations revealed that the girls were lured to the facility under the guise of employment before being forced into pregnancy to sell their babies to prospective buyers.
Lens News learnt that the police also arrested two suspects believed to be operators of the illegal home. The victims are now receiving medical attention and counselling, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other accomplices who fled the scene.
Odunlami-Omisanya assured that the command remains committed to dismantling human trafficking syndicates and bringing perpetrators to justice.
