A major security embarrassment has hit the Nigeria Police Force after one of its official vehicles was stolen from the Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja.

Lens News gathered that the missing vehicle, a Toyota Land Cruiser SUV with registration number NPF 5594 D and chassis number JTELU71JX0B027126, was attached to the Department of Operations. It was discovered missing from the official parking lot on July 28, 2025.

According to Sahara Reporters, the police have since launched a manhunt for the vehicle, with signals sent to all commands across the country to be on alert. The Force has also instructed officers to trace any possible movement of the SUV within and outside the FCT.

The theft, coming from inside the police headquarters itself, has sparked outrage and questions about internal security lapses within Nigeria’s top law enforcement institution. Sources within the Force suggested that insider complicity has not been ruled out.

As of press time, police authorities have not released a formal public statement, but internal circulars confirm that surveillance teams and investigative units are actively pursuing leads.
