Former Deputy Governor of Osun State and ex-National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Otunba Iyiola Omisore, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election.
Lens News reports that Omisore confirmed his ambition during an interview where he stated simply, “Yes, I will run,” signaling his return to the state’s political battlefield.
He said consultations were ongoing with APC stakeholders both within Osun and at the national level, adding that his decision was driven by a desire to “restore purposeful leadership” and “rescue Osun from its current challenges.”
Omisore’s campaign structures have already been reactivated, with his Osogbo campaign office now open and branded, while youth groups under the Omisore Youth Solidarity Forum (OYSF) have begun mobilization ahead of the party’s primaries.
The declaration places Omisore among top APC aspirants preparing to challenge incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke of the PDP in what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2026 governorship race.
