NNPC Boosts Domestic Gas Supply, Signs 20-Year Deal with Ssonic Petroleum

Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Ltd has expanded its domestic gas supply operations through a new agreement with Ssonic Petroleum Ltd.

The deal, signed on March 6th 2025, will provide 80 million standard cubit feet of natural gas daily to Ssonic’s planned Liquefied Natural Gast plant in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, Lagos State.

In a press release signed by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd, Olufemi Soneye, “NNPC Gas Marketing Ltd and Joint venture partner NIPCO Gas Ltd executed the 20-year Gas Sale and Purchase Agreement as part of ongoing efforts to enhance Nigeria’s industrial and economic growth.”

“The gas supply agreement is part of efforts by the NNPC Ltd to boost domestic gas utilization for industrial and economic growth of the nation,’ Soneye said.

He also added that the new development will promote the use of gas as a cleaner, cheaper and more environmentally friendly fuel in keeping with the goal of reducing global warming.
