NCPWD, NABG Partner to Promote Disability Inclusion in Agribusiness

The National Commission for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) and the Nigerian Agribusiness Group (NABG) have established a strategic partnership aimed at promoting the inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

This much was disclosed in a statement signed Ishaku Kigbu, Head of Media and Publicity if NCPWDs, following a strategic meeting held at the Commission headquarters.

Executive Secretary Hon. Ayuba Gufwan emphasized the commission’s commitment to economic empowerment for the country’s 35.5 million PWDs through participation in agribusiness.

“Ensuring the full inclusion of Persons with Disabilities in all sectors of the economy is a top priority for this administration. Agriculture is a key driver of economic growth, and PWDs must be given equal opportunities to thrive in the sector,” Gufwan stated during the meeting.

The partnership will focus on providing PWDs with access to agricultural training, funding opportunities, and market linkages. Both organizations agreed that increasing participation of PWDs in agribusiness would improve their livelihoods while contributing to national food security.

Representing NABG, Head of Inclusion Bello Aliyu Abdulrahman expressed the group’s commitment to integrating marginalized groups into its agricultural programs.

“The Nigerian Agribusiness Group is committed to fostering inclusivity in the sector. Our collaboration with NCPWD will ensure that PWDs are fully integrated into the agribusiness value chain,” he said.

The joint initiative will develop policy advocacy, specialized training, and capacity-building programs specifically designed for PWDs.

NABG has also pledged to identify and support PWDs already working in agriculture by connecting them with market opportunities, funding sources, and technological innovations.

NCPWD’s Director of Social Integration, Mr. Lawrence, noted that economic empowerment through agribusiness aligns with the commission’s broader mandate to integrate PWDs into all aspects of national development.

The organizations have committed to establishing a structured working framework to ensure effective implementation of their shared objectives throughout Nigeria.
