The MTN Foundation in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has launched a free 24-hour helpline to provide support for Nigerians struggling with drug and substance abuse.

LensNews confirmed that the toll-free number 08010203040 will connect callers to trained counsellors who can offer psycho-social support, referrals, and guidance in multiple Nigerian languages. The helpline is designed to be accessible nationwide, with round-the-clock availability.

The initiative is part of MTN’s ongoing Anti-Substance Abuse Programme (ASAP), which since 2019 has driven awareness through advocacy, school campaigns, teacher training, and community outreach. This year, the programme also aims to train 86,400 students and 1,440 teachers across 12 states to boost drug prevention efforts in schools.

Speaking at the unveiling, NDLEA Chairman Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (Rtd.) praised the partnership, noting that the helpline provides a critical lifeline for young Nigerians caught in the web of substance abuse. He stressed that early intervention and counselling remain key to reducing drug dependency.

MTN Foundation executives said the helpline is another step in their mission to strengthen youth-focused interventions and prevent first-time drug use. They assured the public that all calls will be handled confidentially.

With drug abuse cases on the rise across Nigeria, the helpline is expected to become a vital tool for intervention, offering immediate access to help where it is needed most.
