The Kwara State Government has dismissed recent comments by former Senate President Bukola Saraki accusing the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration of failing in its responsibility to secure lives and property.
Lens News reports that Saraki, speaking at a PDP congress in Ilorin, had cited rising cases of killings and kidnappings as proof of what he described as the government’s failure in security management.
Reacting, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Hon. Bashir Adigun, said Saraki was not in a position to lecture the current administration on security, accusing him of presiding over a period marked by cult clashes, political thuggery and fear in the state.
Adigun said the AbdulRazaq administration has consistently supported security agencies with vehicles, logistics and modern gadgets, while also empowering vigilantes, local hunters and forest guards to defend communities.
He added that insecurity is a national challenge and not peculiar to Kwara, warning that politicising the issue only undermines collective efforts to address it.
