The First Lady of Kwara State and Chairperson of the Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, Amb. Prof. Olufolake Abdulrazaq, has distributed school sandals to students across public schools in the state’s three senatorial districts.
LensNews reports that the distribution event took place on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the Office of the First Lady, Government House, Ilorin. Abdulrazaq said the initiative was aimed at ensuring schoolchildren enjoy comfort while walking to class, regardless of their backgrounds.
She reaffirmed her commitment to promoting children’s access to quality education, healthcare, and other necessities, stressing that “children’s footprints leave a lasting impact on society as they walk towards a brighter future.”

The First Lady explained that her office, alongside the Ajike People Support Centre, has over the years implemented several programmes, including scholarships, school supplies, family support initiatives, skill acquisition, and empowerment schemes to complement government efforts. She pledged to continue championing causes that protect children from social vices while urging students to be good representatives of their families and communities.
Convener of the Sandals Initiative Programme, Mr. Ibrahim Kale Jimoh, said the donation was designed to provide footwear for pupils at no cost, thereby improving their learning environment. He commended the First Lady for funding the procurement of the sandals.

Kwara State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe, also described the initiative as timely and laudable, noting that it not only supports pupils but also promotes the use of locally made products. Similarly, the Chairman of SUBEB, Prof. Adaramaja, praised Abdulrazaq for her continuous support for education programmes in line with the state government’s agenda.
The event drew notable attendees, including the wife of the Speaker of the State Assembly, Hajia Saadatu Danladi, wife of the Chief Judge, Mrs. Olufunke Adebara, Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola, cabinet members, principals, teachers, artisans, religious leaders, and representatives from political groups.
