Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has approved the 2024 cash backing for 3,594 teaching and non-teaching staff of the state’s Teaching Service Commission with immediate effect.

The Executive Chairman of TESCOM, Mallam Bello Tauheed Abubakar, disclosed this on Monday while addressing management staff at the commission’s headquarters.

Abubakar described the approval as another testimony to Governor AbdulRazaq’s commitment to improving teachers’ welfare in the state.

The chairman recalled that Governor AbdulRazaq, upon assumption of office in 2019, cash-backed promotions for 2015, 2016, and 2017, and has since maintained the practice through 2023.

“The governor has consistently demonstrated his commitment to teachers’ welfare by ensuring all promotion arrears are settled,” Abubakar stated.

He assured commission staff that the current administration would ensure all future promotions receive cash backing as and when due.

While appreciating the governor’s investment in teachers’ welfare, the TESCOM chairman assured him of the commission’s continued support and dedication to work.

“We promise to justify our pay with hard work and dedication at all times,” he said.
