Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited, the operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2, has linked the water leakage in its ticketing hall on Tuesday to heavy rainfall and abnormal wind patterns.

In a statement, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, explained that the extreme weather conditions created pressure that allowed rainwater to seep through the terminal’s weatherproofing systems.

“Today, Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited experienced temporary water leakage due to an unusual rainfall. The combination of heavy rain and abnormal wind patterns directed water toward previously unaffected structural areas, creating pressure that compromised the weatherproofing system, which has previously functioned effectively,” she stated.

She assured the public that the maintenance team responded promptly, adding, “The terminal maintenance department acted immediately, and water removal operations have been completed. The terminal remains fully operational, with the affected area restored.”

Yinka-Olawuyi further noted that a comprehensive facility assessment is underway to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
