Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denied reports claiming he intends to step down for a younger aspirant ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Lens News reports that Atiku, through his media office, clarified that he has not made any pledge to withdraw from the race, insisting he remains committed to contesting on the African Democratic Congress (ADC) platform.

Recall that Lens News earlier reported that Atiku had said he would step down if a younger aspirant clinched the ADC presidential ticket. However, his camp has now dismissed such reports as false and misleading.

“Atiku is preparing for the 2027 elections with the aim of winning, not stepping down for anyone,” a close aide stated.

The development puts to rest speculation of a possible generational shift within the ADC ahead of its presidential primaries.
