The Nigerian Army has neutralised 12 armed bandits during a counteroffensive operation in Katsina State following an attack on a rural community.
In a statement made available on Tuesday, the Army said troops from Operation Hadarin Daji engaged the bandits who attempted to raid villages in Batsari Local Government Area.
According to the statement, the troops acted on credible intelligence and ambushed the gunmen, resulting in a heavy exchange of gunfire. “Twelve bandits were neutralised, several others fled with gunshot wounds, while arms and ammunition were recovered,” the statement added.
Lens News gathered that recovered items include AK-47 rifles, ammunition, and operational motorcycles used by the bandits.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to restoring peace in the North-West region, assuring residents of Katsina and neighbouring states of continuous operations to dismantle criminal hideouts.
The Army urged citizens to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely information on suspicious activities.
