The National Youth Wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has launched an internship programme designed to give young Nigerians practical experience in governance and leadership.
Unveiling the scheme in Abuja, party youth leaders said the initiative would allow participants to work closely with political office holders and within party structures, exposing them to the realities of public service.
According to the organisers, the internship is aimed at building the capacity of Nigerian youths, encouraging civic participation, and nurturing a pipeline of future leaders. Interested applicants are being encouraged to apply through the APC Youth Wing’s official channels.
LensNews gathered that while the announcement was welcomed by many young Nigerians eager for political exposure, questions remain about whether the programme will provide stipends, mentorship, and proper supervision. The number of available slots and the states to be covered have also not been fully disclosed.
Nonetheless, APC youth leaders maintain that the scheme will close the gap between theory and practice in governance. “This is a chance for young people to learn directly from the system and prepare for leadership,” one youth leader said at the unveiling.
Observers note that with Nigeria’s rising youth population, such programmes could help bridge the disconnect between politicians and young citizens — if implemented transparently and inK9mkkmclusively.
