Panic gripped students of Bilyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia on Thursday night after suspected bandits stormed one of their hostels, injuring two students and carting away several mobile phones.
LenNews gathered that, the incident happened at an off-campus male hostel located along Malam Madori Road. According to eyewitnesses, the attackers forced their way into rooms, brandishing weapons, and dispossessed students of their phones. In the process, two students sustained injuries and were rushed to Hadejia General Hospital for treatment.
One student who escaped the attack told reporters that the gunmen created chaos as they moved from room to room. “They entered our hostel with weapons, beat us, and left with our phones. We were terrified,” he said.
Police Public Relations Officer in Jigawa State, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the attack. He explained that the victims were treated and later discharged. He added that the hostel’s isolated location made it an easy target but assured that security had been reinforced around the school environment.
The raid has sparked fear among students and residents, who are now calling for urgent and sustained security measures to protect lives and property around the polytechnic.
