A 22-year-old man in the UK has been fined £750 after being caught engaging in sexual activity with a live horse, in a case that has drawn national outrage.
According to court documents, the defendant was apprehended after the disturbing act was discovered and reported. Appearing before a magistrate, he was ordered to pay £556.57 in compensation alongside a £200 fine, totalling £750.
The court ruled that the incident violated animal welfare laws, stressing that such acts not only cause distress and potential harm to animals but also raise serious public health concerns. Prosecutors said the case highlighted the importance of strong enforcement of bestiality laws.
Animal rights groups have condemned the act, calling for harsher penalties in similar cases. “This is not only a crime but an act of cruelty. We urge lawmakers to treat bestiality with the same seriousness as other violent offences,” one campaigner said outside court.
The man’s name has not been released publicly, but authorities confirmed he will be placed on an offenders’ list preventing him from working with or keeping animals in the future.
